Directing the Run2payitforward Trail Half Marathon

What a beautiful day we had for the first run2payitforward!  When embarking on something like this you are never sure how it is going to turn out.  When we came up with the idea and started to put it into motion we were very excited.  Then the entries slowly trickled in and we began to wonder how we were going to get this event off the ground!  With about 2 weeks to go more entries flooded in, just when we were trying to decide if we would cancel the event or move forward.  My mindset became..."well, we will just have a small event and it would just be like a family gathering"  We got to race day with 59 preregistered for what i would describe as one of the most challenging half marathon courses in Michigan and added 3 additional entries that day.

Some sponsors pulled back and some stepped up at the last minute.  I want to thank Running Gear, Hanson's Running Shops, Cheesy Luigi's Pizza and Gilda's Club 5k for donating food for race day.  I would especially like to thank the volunteers from Camp Casey for their help along the course and with registration.  A big thank you goes out to Jeremy V from the CRAMBA for helping patrol the course.   Thank you to Glenn from Cutting Edge Athletics and all of his diligent work on our t-shirts.  And thank you to the Skelcy children and Spencer for help race weekend.

And runners donated 40 pairs of shoes and many other awesome clothing donations that will be given to a group of runners in the Pontiac Area!

Lots of other stories to tell but my other job is calling at the moment...
